In the first book of the Series, "Mr. Prickleypants Goes to Northern Europe," Mr. Prickleypants, a lovable African Pygmy hedgehog that lives in Indiana's Hollowwood Forest wakes up from his winter hibernation.  He is now a young adult, and his Mama and Papa give him two red tickets so he can travel the Silver Bullet Express, which is an express portal for small animals in the forest to travel around the world.  His best pal, Peanut, the chipmunk, tags along in hopes of them meeting social hedgehogs, since their hedgehog community strictly keeps to themselves. 

During their quest, they meet Mr. Prickleypants' cousins, the European hedgehogs; while traveling through several countries there, they experience a lot of ups and downs.  Finally, Penny, a friendly, outgoing hedgehog from Vilnius, Lithuania introduces them to her lively hedgehog community.  Watching them enjoy each other's company and also sharing food, opens their eyes to a whole new world.  They love the Spring Hedgehog Carnival and nightly social events that Penny's hedgehog community host.  Mr. Prickleypants and Peanut head back home, excited to share their thrilling, self-reliant and resilient escapades with their hedgehog community.

The Hollowwood Forest hedgehog community has become quite social after the first book, meeting for nightly social events, playing sports, sharing food and gathering together.  Mr. Prickleypants and Peanut even help plan a carnival and begin celebrating holidays as a hedgehog community for the first time.  In the second and third book, they learn a lot about New Zealand and Africa.  The whole Prickleypants family joins them to visit Africa.   

After the third book, "Mr. Prickleypants Goes to Africa," Mr. Prickleypants is inspired to begin visiting the seven New Wonders of the World.  Visiting the Pyramids of Giza during their Africa trip and starting his studies at the local university with a focus in archeology are what motivates him to explore these exceptional places.  Not only do children learn about each country Mr. Prickleypants visits, but they also learn an important lesson in each book.  These entertaining, educational stories are fun for the entire family.  The Prickleypants family sure know how to have a blast exploring the world!
